Government funding resources includes information on the 26 United States Federal grant-making agencies, portals to federal, local, and state government funding resources, and opportunities from the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the Department Centers for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Private funding resources include grants, scholarships, fellowships and/or awards for individual women available from foundations, charities and private trusts.

Title: 2013 Vision Fund

Program: The Vision Fund provides grants of up to $7,500 to support activities such as capacity building efforts, pilot or demonstration projects, and/or program design, evaluation or research – e.g. board assessment/development, merger/restructuring effort and components of a strategic planning effort. Emphasis is on increasing the organizational impact and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations.
Award: Grants of up to $7,500
Eligibility: Organizations that are classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or are fiscally sponsored by such an organization. Applicants must primarily serve people in the Boston metropolitan area. STATE FOCUS: MASSACHUSETTS

Program: The Grassroots Grants program allows the trust to assist a large number of worthy organizations with a wide variety of small projects that are limited in scope significant for the applicant organization.

Title: FY 2013 Research and Evaluation on Children Exposed to Violence

Admin Agency: US Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice (NIJ)
Program: NIJ is seeking multidisciplinary research and evaluation proposals related to childhood exposure to violence. NIJ is particularly interested in applications that address poly-victimization, Internet harassment/electronic aggression (e.g, bullying through Facebook, harassing e-mails), resilience, or justice system responses to children identified as being exposed to violence. For the purposes of this solicitation, “Children Exposed to Violence (CEV)” encompasses a broad area that includes children as both direct victims and as bystanders or observers of various forms of violence in the home, school, or community (including, but not limited to, peer victimization/bullying/harassment, child maltreatment, domestic violence, and community violence). This solicitation may be used to address other types of violence to which children are exposed, with the exception of media violence (e.g., television and movie violence, music advocating aggression, and violent video games).
Award: $1 million for 1 or multiple awards

Title: OJJDP FY 2013: VOCA Regional Children's Advocacy Centers Program

Program: The VOCA Regional Children’s Advocacy Centers competitive program supports four Regional Children’s Advocacy Centers, one situated within each of the four U.S. Census regions, that (1) develop multidisciplinary teams, local children’s advocacy center programs, and state chapter organizations that respond to child abuse and neglect; and (2) deliver training and technical assistance that strengthen existing multidisciplinary teams, child advocacy center programs, and state chapter organizations.
Award: $1.1 million for four (4) awards
Eligibility: Nonprofits who meet the following: Operation of a children’s advocacy center with current accredited membership status in the National Children’s Alliance; have multidisciplinary staff experienced in providing a broad continuum of coordinated services to child victims of abuse and neglect and non-offending family members; have a minimum of 5 years of experience providing regional or national training and technical assistance to developing or established multidisciplinary teams, children’s advocacy centers , and state chapter organizations of children’s advocacy center CACs; and have a minimum of 5 years experience providing regional or national training and technical assistance to a wide range of multidisciplinary professionals and others with respect to the judicial handling of child abuse and neglect.

Title: OJJDP FY 2013 Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force National Training Program

Program: The OJJDP seeks innovative approaches to designing and delivering training to support the ICAC task force network that includes law enforcement, prosecutors, computer forensic specialists, and other related partnering agencies/organizations. OJJDP is particularly interested in approaches that deliver effective, cost-efficient training through a combination of traditional classroom instruction and distance and online learning technologies. Proposed approaches should clearly demonstrate the applicant’s knowledge, understanding, and experience in the following tasks: delivering training to law enforcement, prosecutors, computer forensic specialists, or other criminal justice professionals developing and maintaining a cadre of experts who can conduct training on the national, state, and local levels through both traditional and nontraditional teaching modalities conducting evaluation and assessment of training outcomes
Award: There are three funding categories: Category 1: Entry Level and Core Training. Competition ID: OJJDP- 2013-3567. OJJDP expects to make cooperative agreements of as much as $1.65 million for entry and core level training. Category 2: Digital Evidence Forensics. Competition ID: OJJDP-2013-3568. OJJDP expects to make cooperative agreements of as much as $1 million for digital forensic training. Category 3: Officer Wellness. Competition ID: OJJDP-2013-3588. OJJDP expects to make cooperative agreements of as much as $400,000 for officer wellness training.

Title: OJJDP FY 2013 Missing and Exploited Children Program Support

Award: 1 award for up to $350,000 for a 12-month project period

Title: FY 2013 Building and Enhancing Criminal Justice Research-Practitioner Partnerships FY 2013

Program: The 2013 solicitation is directly aimed at supporting criminal justice research and evaluation activities that include a researcher-practitioner partnership component. Within the context of the proposed research or evaluation project, the partnerships can be new or ongoing. Results from these projects should lead to better criminal justice policy, practice, and research, including for the participating practitioner partner. For the purpose of this solicitation, practitioner or criminal justice practitioner or practice-based organization refers to public, non-profit, or community-based agencies at Federal, State, and local levels directly involved in: • Law enforcement. • Corrections, including pretrial, parole, probation, supervised release, and offender reentry. • The criminal judicial system. • The juvenile justice system. • Forensic sciences for criminal justice purposes. • Crime victim services and programs. • Crime and violence prevention programs
Award: Maximum of $2 million for 1 - 4 awards

Title: FY 2013 NIJ Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Program: The NIJ Ph.D. Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) program provides awards for research on crime, violence, and other criminal justice-related topics to accredited universities that support graduate study leading to research-based doctoral degrees. NIJ invests in doctoral education by supporting universities that sponsor students who demonstrate the potential to successfully complete doctoral degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of NIJ.
Award: A total of $210,000 is available for up to 8 awards
Eligibility: Degree-granting educational institutions in the United States may apply. It is not necessary to have formally defended the dissertation prospectus at the time of application due date, the following must have occurred and be documented in the application: * The doctoral student must have completed all required course work. * The doctoral student must have passed qualifying comprehensive exams. * The doctoral student must be advanced to candidacy by the university.

Title: 2013 Visiting Fellow: Criminal Justice Statistics Programs
Category: CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Admin Agency: US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS)
Program: The BJS Visiting Fellow program offers researchers, survey methodologists, and statisticians an opportunity to conduct statistical research in a particular area of mutual interest to them and BJS, to examine innovative approaches to the analysis and dissemination of BJS data, and to interact with BJS staff and gain first-hand knowledge of developments in BJS statistical programs. BJS’s priority areas for its Visiting Fellowship program include: Federal criminal justice system case processing flows; Growth, decline, and composition of U.S. prison populations; Indigent defense systems; Record linkage of BJS data to develop new statistics about the operation of the criminal justice system; Recidivism of young offenders in New York; Secondary analysis of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) data on substance abuse.
Award: Up to 3 awards for a maximum of $150,000
Eligibility: Eligible applicants are individuals who have a nationally recognized research portfolio and considerable expertise in their area of proposed research. They should be willing to commit a substantial portion of their time over at least a 12-month period to undertake analyses of existing BJS data or statistical programs and produce at least one publishable quality report summarizing their analysis.
