The opening session of NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall introduced and explored the concept of survivor-centered prevention. It allowed space for survivors to share their vision for prevention based on their lived experiences. The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV), National AI/AN Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) and the Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center (AKNWRC) convened a workgroup of gender-based violence and housing advocates from Indian country to reflect on the needs of AI/AN survivors. As both researchers and child protection caseworkers know well, there is a high rate of co-occurrence of child maltreatment and domestic violence. This best practice guide was developed to support local child welfare agency staff as they engage with families experiencing co-occurring domestic violence and child maltreatment.
