New Special Collection: Models in Prevention – CDC’s DELTA Program

August 15th, 2011 CaseyKeene No comments

Models in Prevention – CDC’s DELTA Program (August 2011) provides an overview of this national initiative to build organizational capacity and state leadership for the primary prevention of intimate partner violence, offers key prevention resources, and highlights initiatives, materials, and promising practices from all 14 DELTA States.

Nearly one decade after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initiated the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Program, there is a strong foundation of information and lessons learned regarding promising practices in the primary prevention of intimate partner violence. This collection highlights the successes of this program and its grantees, providing materials to support replication of these efforts across the United States and globally.

Special thanks to the National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCDSV), with whom NRCDV/VAWnet has a collaborative relationship to support the CDC Foundation’s DELTA and DELTA PREP grantees in their work to prevent intimate partner violence. In addition, we’d like to recognize VAWnet’s partner in prevention-focused resource provision and DELTA program support, PreventConnect.org.

ANNOUNCING A NEW SPECIAL COLLECTION!

The Intersection of Domestic Violence and the Military: Working across disciplines (May 2011) examines co-occurring issues experienced by veterans — including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) — and provides information related to best practices when addressing these co-occurring issues through a multi-systems approach. Challenges experienced by female service members and veterans are explored through the lens of violence against women.

A brief glossary of terms is included for your reference and to assist with understanding the information discussed within. This special collection is intended to expand on the previous collection Traumatic Brain Injury and Domestic Violence: Understanding the Intersections published by the NRCDV in March 2010.
